Our Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is led by Dr. Roberto Ovilla, a hematologist with 23 years’ experience of working with hematopoietic progenitor cells (stem cells taken from the circulating blood stream). He specializes in Hematology, Oncology and Immunology.

Doctor Ovilla founded the Transplant Program at La Raza Hospital’s National Medical Center in 1989 and Transplant and Hematology Services at the Carlos McGregor Mexican Social Security Hospital in 1996. “Hematology is a complex and exciting specialty that gives me the opportunity to serve my patients. Through the processes involved, from lab tests, to interpreting the symptoms and knowledge of immunology, I have the chance to implement medical therapy such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and Stem Cell Transplants to treat my patients and change their lives.”
